Swasey Parent Faculty Group Calendar  : Calendar

I dreamed I stood in a studio and watched two sculptors there. The clay they used was a young child’s mind. One was a teacher- the tools she used were books, music, and art. The other, a parent, worked with a guiding hand and a gentle loving heart. Day after day the teacher toiled with a touch that was deft and sure, while the parent labored by her side and polished and smoothed it o’er. And when at last their task was done, they were proud of what they’d wrought. For the things they had molded into the child could neither be sold nor bought. And each agreed they would have failed if each had worked alone for behind the parent stood the school and behind the teacher the home. -Author Unknown

What is the PFG?

We are the parents, guardians and teachers of the students of Swasey Central School.  Membership is open to anyone who is interested in being involved. Our mission is to enhance the welfare and education of children at Swasey Central School. We promote active parent involvement in volunteer programs and fundraisers, as well as school and PFG sponsored activities.  We assist administration in obtaining necessary educational and recreational equipment and materials.

Why should you be involved with the PFG?

Research shows again and again that strong parental involvement is one of the most significant factors in a child’s educational success!

Involvement in the PFG allows you to:

Meet and befriend other parents

Share advice and ideas with other parents.

Be up-to-date with what’s going on at our school

Show your children that you value their school and their education

How do I join?

At SCS, our philosophy is that we are a team! If you have a child at SCS, you are a member of the PFG!!   For a $5.00 optional family membership fee will include a yellow memo pad for easy communication with the school, a pencil, and a family investment into a year of PFG activities The PFG meets the third Tuesday of every month.  Meetings begin at 6:30 in the School Library.

How can I get involved?

Whether you’d like to help a little or a lot, the PFG NEEDS YOU! Its fun, it’s free, it’s informative, and you can develop some great friendships with other parents- not to mention it’s an awesome investment in our children and their education! Here are just some of the ways that you can get involved:

Volunteer- Whether you’d like to really get involved and help several times throughout the year, or even if you just want to help once or twice, there is a spot for you! At various times throughout the year- especially during our fundraiser events- we need volunteers to help with things like distributing items to the classrooms, helping with a Community Event etc. These are generally short periods ranging anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple hours, and any time that you can contribute is GREATLY appreciated. The more hands we have helping, the less time for everyone. This is a great way for parents or even grandparents to get involved! Consider becoming a volunteer today!

Grade Liaison- Grade liaisons are responsible for maintaining open dialog with teachers to help organize and implement the volunteer needs for their classrooms. There will be one grade liaison per teacher, PE, Art, and Music. This is a great way to get involved in the volunteer program!

Fundraiser- Fundraising is an extremely important part of the PFG. Our Fall and Spring fundraiser events generate the majority of the funds raised by the PFG. This money helps us to reach our goal of providing support for our children’s school and helping them to have the absolute best educational experience possible.  Your support of our fundraiser efforts is one of the greatest ways to get involved! Some parents have expressed a desire to simply make a donation to the PFG in lieu of having their children participate in sales events. These donations are always welcome!!

Officer- Do you want to dive in full-time and really make a difference? Consider becoming a PFG Officer for the upcoming school year.

Get involved with the PFG today! Remember, together we can make a difference!

Would you like to make a donation?  Here's How!
